Some common barriers…
Am I too old?Actually the problem in most cases may be more that you are too young or inexperienced. If you were looking for a surgeon, accountant or doctor would you want a 25 year old or a 50 year old?

Older people have more life experience, would be less likely to “job hop” or phone in with a hangover on a Monday
I’m not qualified enoughWhat qualification is it that you need?
